Studying Medicine in Turkey: Programs, Costs & Requirements

Turkey has become a top destination for international medical students, offering globally recognized MD programs at affordable prices.

Medical programs in Turkey are 6 years long and include both preclinical and clinical phases. Many universities offer English-taught medicine, eliminating the need to learn Turkish before starting.

Tuition varies dramatically between public and private universities. Public university medicine costs $800–$3,000/year. Private universities range from $8,000 to $38,000/year. Istanbul Medipol is among the most expensive, while universities like Karabük and Selçuk are among the cheapest.

Turkish medical degrees are recognized by the GMC (UK), WFME, and other international bodies. Graduates can practice globally after passing their country's licensing exams.

Admission requirements include strong science grades and either YÖS scores (public universities) or direct admission (private universities). Some programs require TOEFL or IELTS for English-taught tracks.
